SparkPride LGBTQIA+ Mentorship Programme

  • Hybrid
    • Amsterdam, Noord-Holland, Netherlands
  • Consultant positions

Description

SparkOptimus is launching a mentorship programme to help LGBTQIA+ aspiring consultants break into consulting with a bit more clarity, confidence, and community. Our mentors provide a 3 or 6 month mentorship programme for LGBTQ+ individuals looking to build careers in consulting. The programme connects mentees with members of our SparkPride network.

What does the programme consist of?

Over 3 or 6 months, you’ll be matched with a LGBTQIA+ consultant at SparkOptimus for 4 1:1 conversations (to be agreed on with mentor - length and amount can be flexible). Together, you decide what you want to use the time for: practicing cases, sharpening your CV, preparing your fit stories, choosing which firms to target, or talking through anything that’s on your mind as you apply. The mentorship programme ends after 3 to 6 months. Of course, mentees and mentors can keep in touch after the programme has ended

The goal is simple: practical support, honest perspective, and a personal connection with someone who understands the experience.

What you might work on with your mentor:

  • Getting your CV and applications into consulting shape

  • Case interview prep

  • Personal/fit interviews

  • Understanding different types of consulting and what might suit you

  • Building a recruitment plan and keeping momentum

  • Navigating identity, belonging, and confidence during the process

Mentee expectations:

  • Be proactive. The obligation is on you to maximise the relationship with your mentor. The mentor is volunteering their time alongside work commitments so it is important you take ownership of the relationship and be proactive in scheduling time.

  • Set the agenda. Set clear goals early, define meeting objectives, and prepare discussion points in advance.

  • Remain respectful. Maintain confidentiality and respect your mentor’s time. Notify your mentor 48 hours in advance if rescheduling is needed.

This programme is for you if you:

  • Identify as LGBTQIA+

  • Are a student (BSc and MSc) or early-career professional

  • Plan to apply to consulting soon (now or within the next 3–6 months)

  • Dutch students must have completed their VWO

How to apply

To apply, you’ll submit:

  • CV (PDF)

  • Grades/transcript for all your degrees (high school, BSc and MSc)

  • Motivation
